Bettas

Bettas or the Siamese Fighting Fish are a unique species of fish that have evolved over time to allow them to survive in warm oxygen poor ponds and pools in their native environment. They are gulp air from the surface through a labyrinth organ and then process it to live. They further have adapted this technique to build bubble nest similar to gouramis.Although this allows them to live in less than ideal water conditions they beccome more susceptible to disease and problems if the aquarium is not maintained.
